Calcium Stearate (CAS 1592-23-0, molecular formula Ca(C₁₈H₃₅O₂)₂, MW 607.02) is a calcium salt of stearic acid widely used in pharmaceutical manufacturing as a tablet and capsule lubricant, anti-adherent, and glidant. It offers effective lubrication at typical concentrations of 0.5–2.0% and is preferred in formulations where magnesium stearate incompatibility exists. It also functions as a release agent in suppository molds and as an anti-caking agent in powder blends.
